Tests for testosterone levels

To know if you have too little or too much of this androgenic hormone, a blood sample needs to be taken. Normal levels for the hormone range at 300 -1,000 ng/dL for men and 20 - 80 ng/dL for women. Levels are assessed to know
about early or late puberty in boys, impotence or infertility in men, and to determine the reason for excess hair, hair
loss, and other male characteristics in women.

More Testosterone Research

Testosterone is another hormone that plays an important role in growth especially in men, although it is also present in
small amounts in women. Testosterone is important for maintaining mental and physical energy, the maintenance of
muscle mass, for normal sperm development, and for the normal appearance of male physical characteristics in men.
Levels of this male hormone decline with age. In males, this is called andropause. A deficiency in the hormone results
in moodiness, decreased libido, and fatigue in men. Women also rely on this hormone for the maintenance of muscle mass, libido, and bone density.

Acute pain – It is the kind of pain arising immediately after a physical injury, such as when the skin is cut or a bone is broken. Normally, this type of pain gradually subsides as the body is restored to its normal state. Acute pain may disappear with or without the use of drugs. Its defining characteristic is that it occurs within a short time frame, and the pain level suffered by the person is usually severe.

Chronic pain – This is not as easy to define as the previous type, because it is a condition by itself. It is typically associated with long-term illness and does not have much relation to the level of pain suffered. In fact, the discomfort may sometimes not even be felt by the person; and in instances when the person does feel it, it could range from mild to severe.
